Artists Ashley McCormick and Lottie Child have been commissioned by Newham Council, Barratt and LDA to connect a range of local people in conversations and creative activities, exploring a proposed scheme for a new play landscape under the DLR line on North Woolwich Road.
Ashley and Lottie believe play is not just for children: people of all ages might use the new play landscape after it is completed in 2013, and this engagement project is an early opportunity to investigate, understand and influence changes happening locally, and strengthen links between people and place.
The research findings and output will be forwarded to the design team in order to inform specific details of the new play landscape.
Ashley and Lottie will be working with local people at various sites over the next 6 weeks and hosting fun, free activities for all ages during the Active Community Event at Britannia Village Hall on Saturday 19th March from 3 - 6 pm.
